Basile has the carefree smile of a child who embraces life, with laughing eyes but also a determined gaze that knows exactly where he's going. Tough-minded yet tender-hearted. At 20 years old, the sailor hasn't wasted any time in his young offshore racing career. In just four years, he has accomplished the immense task of making a name for himself, supported by Edenred, a loyal partner that gives him the chance to fully dedicate himself to competition.
In 2019, his first Transat Jacques Vabre in Class40 with Emmanuel Le Roch definitively ignites the competitive flame that has always been within him. At only 17 years old, he was preparing for his baccalaureate exams and planning to pursue further studies—because there's more to life than just sailing—but then Covid struck. The call of the sea was stronger than the lure of distant IUT classes from his teenage room in Saint-Philibert. So Basile dives into the Mini 6.50 series to take things step by step. Ten months of learning with one goal in mind: the Mini Transat. Basile progresses quickly, securing podium finishes in pre-season races. Right from the start of the Mini Transat, he is in the leading pack during the first leg before the race is neutralized in Spain. While the final result in the Canary Islands isn't what he hoped for, the skipper of Edenred prefers to forget the controversies of that first leg. He will go on to complete an excellent solo Atlantic crossing, crossing the finish line in 7th place in Guadeloupe.
The next logical step is the Figaro BENETEAU 3 circuit. As always since his beginnings, Basile can count on the support of Edenred, which commits to him for three years on the demanding Figaro circuit. He joins the Pôle Finistère Course au Large in January 2022, the premier training center that has groomed the greatest sailors. It's a radical life change as Basile moves to Port-La-Forêt and trains tirelessly. After a successful first season in the Figaro, Basile is aiming for a Top 10 finish in the French Elite Offshore Racing Championship this year.
