DATE OF BIRTH: 29 December 2000
BOAT: Ageas – Ballay – Cerfrance – Baie de Saint-Brieuc
Born in Paris, Maël started sailing at the age of 4 in the Bay of Morlaix. He comes from a family with no sailing background but quickly delved into competitive sailing. At the age of 11, he finished 3rd in the Optimist French Championship.
Later on, Maël trained alone for 5 years in the Laser class in the Bay of Saint Brieuc before joining the La Rochelle Sailing Center. It proved to be a fruitful year as he became the French Laser Radial Youth Champion at 16.
Throughout his studies, Maël also sailed in the Waszp, Flying Phantom, and Diam24 classes, achieving excellent results in competitions.
In 2019, Maël had a taste of the Figaro during an outing and fell in love with it. The following year, he initiated a project to participate in the Solitaire du Figaro in 2021 with minimal preparation. He was one of the youngest sailors on the circuit. A 3-year adventure awaits Maël and his partners.
While his dream is to win the Vendée Globe, for now, he is focused on the 2024 Figaro season.
