Susann "Sanni" Beucke, born in 1991, is a German professional offshore sailor. In March 2007, Beucke began sailing with Tina Lutz. They became European champions in 49er FX in 2017 and won the European title again in 2020.
In 2021 they won silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, for which they were also awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf from the Federal President of Germany. Sanni Beucke has since ended her Olympic career.
She is now devoting herself to ocean sailing. In 2023, she participated in the Ocean Race as part of team Holcim-PRB.
She is currently preparing to be the first German woman to participate in the Vendée Globe.
Even as a child, Sanni was eagerly looking for challenges and adventures. Water was her element. She loved being on the ocean and dreamed of one day becoming an offshore sailor.
She started out on small dinghies. As a teenager, she was determined to maximize her athletic abilities and represent Germany at the Olympics. And she did everything she could to achieve her goal. She trained hard. Tirelessly, every day. She enhanced every little detail, worked on herself, on the boat’s performance and on impeccably executed teamwork. 13 years later, she qualified for the Olympics - and won the silver medal in the 49erFX.
Yet, she has never lost sight of offshore sailing. With courage and determination, she has embarking on her second sailing career: as an international offshore sailor. She is the first German woman to take part to the "Solitaire du Figaro" - the most competitive sailing race in the world to prepare her dream, the famous race around the world the VENDEE GLOBE .
